A redneck moves from the trailerhood to the suburbs for a little patch of dirt to call home and set up an as much as possible self sufficient lifestyle. Some things will go better than planned, others worse. Hopefully, most will at best be somewhere in between.

It Has Been A While
It's been a while since I've posted on here and I'm glad to be back. Things have been rather a shit storm.
First, things at my full time job have gone fro bad to nigh intolerable. In a nutshell, my supervisor has screwed me on my schedule. One night I go in at 10 and the next 11. One week I'm off Monday and Tuesday, the next I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday. I've been there almost 9 years now and things started going downhill about 2 or 3 years ago. Well, I've about had enough. When the downward spiral started I was thinking about just trying to stick in for 10 years for the pittance they call a "pension check". Screw that! I'm looking to move on before then. I'm looking into several different venues to maintain if not increase my income so I can put this ugly chapter in my life behind me.
Second, and more happily, I finally got a truck load of sand delivered. Purchasing a wheel barrow to distribute it was an ordeal all its own. I figured all I needed was a two bit, 4 cubic foot barrow. One store had them listed on line as having 48 in stock but when I got there I saw nothing but a huge gaping hole. After 3 more misses I finally found a barrow and began moving sand. By the way, myself being 5' 9" 140 pounds and 57 years old, about 20 loads of semi wet sand is a day's worth of hauling.
Third, a local stray cat Mama has decided to have her kittens under my storage building in the back yard. I love cats but Bella, my dachshund will kill anything that moves and don't kill her first.
I'm trying to get Mama to move her kits before we have a slaughter in my back yard.
Fourth, I had a minor electrical problem at my house. I had no power in the 2 back rooms which were laid out as bedrooms but became a store room and office. Years ago I worked as an electrician apprentice so I called the company I worked for, Moses Electric. With a foot + long gray beard when I say "I worked with Moses" most people think I'm speaking of another Moses.
I've more to share with you all but that'll all have to wait. I'm beat down to my socks.
Love & peace,
Merlin
