A redneck moves from the trailerhood to the suburbs for a little patch of dirt to call home and set up an as much as possible self sufficient lifestyle. Some things will go better than planned, others worse. Hopefully, most will at best be somewhere in between.

SO Ready To Garden
Kids, I am so ready to get my fingers and toes in the dirt, I am almost rabid! I was talking to one of my buddies at work, Joel about getting our gardens started He and I are pretty much both wanting to grow the redneck staples: maters, peppers and okra
. I told him out of last year's okra crop (I only could find late in the season one packet of seed) so I let 100% of the crop go to seed. I'll give him enough okra seed to plant more than he wants and let him know anybody close to him are welcome to a share as well.
The main difference between our gardening wants is he thought about planting corn which I just don't have space for and he wants purple hull peas. He said he didn't know where to find seed and was astounded when I suggested the local co-op!
We joked about when times get hard, those with seeds will be rich men. Hey! When okra seeds become currency, I'll be a very wealthy man, indeed!
I'm not asking or expecting anything whatsoever in return for my okra seeds but should any who get some of them offer anything in return.... if and only IF I can use it, I'll accept with all gratitude.
Before I had to get rid of my ducks and geese, I gave away the eggs couldn't use. Anything I have an excess of I share. That's the way God planned it. That's the way God said it should be.
Even if you live in a tiny apartment, you have room for a bucket garden or two to have a tomato plant or such. Feel the earth in your hands. It is alive... God is alive!
