I forgot to mention I also have 3 small banana trees in the back yard. They were roof high at the trailerhood but didn't fare too well during my move. I digged them up, put em in a plastic tub, brought em home and semi forgot about em. We had a few freezing rains which all but killed them. While I've never gotten bananas from them and have no expectations to ever do so, I do need the leaves when cooking cochinita pebil.
My dad owns some land in north Mississippi, Montgomery County to narrow it down. I'm hoping to go up there next spring to fetch home some huckleberry bushes and a persimmon tree or 3. Pawpaw trees have piqued my interest but I've not seen any growing wild as the Audubon field guide states they could do around here. I've looked online but am not $30.00 + shipping interested.
